The Digital Power Network Applauds the Introduction of the FLARE Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Digital Power Network Applauds the Introduction of the FLARE Act by Senator Cruz The Digital Power Network, the leading coalition of Bitcoin miners and digital asset energy innovators, strongly supports the introduction of the Facilitating Lower Atmospheric Released Emissions (FLARE) Act by Senator Ted Cruz. This landmark legislation provides permanent full expensing for property used to capture natural gas that would otherwise be flared or vented and repurposes it into value-added products, including Bitcoin mining, power generation, and other energy-intensive industries.

"This is a monumental step forward for the U.S. energy sector and the digital asset industry," said Hailey Miller, Director of Government Relations & Public Policy at The Digital Power Network. "By incentivizing the capture of otherwise wasted natural gas, this bill supports grid stability, energy innovation, and the continued growth of sustainable Bitcoin mining in America. We commend Senator Cruz for his leadership in introducing this forward-thinking legislation."

The FLARE Act specifically recognizes the role of Bitcoin mining in reducing emissions and monetizing stranded energy resources. By enabling permanent full expensing for the infrastructure required to capture and utilize flared gas, this bill will:

  • Reduce harmful emissions by repurposing wasted gas

  • Encourage domestic energy production and innovation

  • Strengthen U.S. grid resilience through flexible load participation

  • Support rural and energy-rich communities by creating new economic opportunities

Bitcoin miners are uniquely positioned to convert flared gas into productive energy, providing a market-based solution to one of the energy sector’s biggest environmental challenges. By leveraging this underutilized resource, the digital asset industry is turning waste into economic and energy security benefits for the U.S. The Digital Power Network urges Congress to move swiftly in advancing this critical piece of legislation.
